Day 1: Old City and Boulevard
Begin in Icheri Sheher, the walled Old City, with the Maiden Tower, the Palace of the Shirvanshahs and small caravanserais. Continue to Fountain Square for shopping and cafés, then walk the seaside Boulevard as the Flame Towers light up in the evening.
Day 2: modern Baku and the views
Visit the Heydar Aliyev Center, whose flowing white form is one of the city’s great landmarks, and the nearby Carpet Museum. For a panorama of the bay, take a short trip to the terrace of Highland Park.
Eat and unwind
Try lamb kebabs, plov and pakhlava in a restaurant in the Old City, or enjoy a tea break by the waterfront. Baku is a safe, walkable city that is easy to enjoy at an unhurried pace.
