Arrival in Heraklion
Fly from Baku and arrive in Heraklion, the capital of Crete. A first walk covers the Venetian harbour, the Koules fortress and the Morosini Fountain. Overnight: Heraklion.
Day 2
Knossos & the Minoan Trail
Visit the palace of Knossos and the Heraklion Archaeological Museum, then continue south to the Minoan palace of Phaistos and the beach of Matala. Overnight: Heraklion.
Day 3
Rethymno & Chania Old Harbour
Travel west along the coast, stopping in Rethymno’s Venetian old town before arriving in Chania and its picturesque harbour and lighthouse. Overnight: Chania.
Day 4
Balos Lagoon & Elafonissi
A full day at the turquoise waters of western Crete: the Gramvousa peninsula and Balos Lagoon, then the pink-sand shore of Elafonissi. Overnight: Chania.
Day 5
Fly to Rhodes – Medieval City
Take the short flight to Rhodes and step into the UNESCO-listed Medieval City: the Street of the Knights and the Palace of the Grand Master. Overnight: Rhodes.
Day 6
Lindos & the East Coast
Drive to the whitewashed village of Lindos and climb to its clifftop acropolis and the Temple of Athena Lindia, then swim at the sandy bay of Faliraki on the way back, with an optional sunset stop at the windswept Prasonisi cape. Overnight: Rhodes.
Day 7
Petaloudes, Filerimos & West Rhodes
Head to the west coast for the Valley of the Butterflies at Petaloudes, the hilltop monastery and viewpoint of Filerimos above Ialysos and a lunch stop beneath Mount Profitis Ilias, ending at the medieval castle of Monolithos. Overnight: Rhodes.
Day 8
Mandraki Harbour & Departure
A last morning at Mandraki harbour, the site associated with the Colossus of Rhodes, and the Suleymaniye Mosque in the old town before the transfer to the airport.
