Arrival in Auckland
Fly from Baku and arrive in Auckland. Collect your hire car, then go up the Sky Tower for a view of the harbour, the Viaduct and the volcanic cones. Overnight: Auckland.
Day 2
Waiheke Island & Auckland Domain
Take a short ferry to Waiheke Island for beaches and a vineyard lunch, then visit the Auckland Domain and the summit of Mount Eden. Overnight: Auckland.
Day 3
Hobbiton, Waitomo Caves & Rotorua
Visit the Hobbiton Movie Set, float through the glow-worm grottoes of the Waitomo Caves, then drive on to geothermal Rotorua. Overnight: Rotorua.
Day 4
Wai-O-Tapu & Huka Falls to Taupō
See the coloured pools of Wai-O-Tapu, the thundering Huka Falls on the Waikato River and the shores of Lake Taupō. Overnight: Taupō.
Day 5
Tongariro National Park to Wellington
Drive through Tongariro National Park beneath the volcanoes of Ruapehu and Ngauruhoe, then continue south to the capital, Wellington. Overnight: Wellington.

Te Papa & the Cook Strait Ferry
Explore Te Papa museum and ride the Cable Car above Wellington, then cross the Cook Strait by ferry to Picton. Overnight: Picton.
Day 7
Marlborough Sounds to Kaikōura
Cruise or walk in the Marlborough Sounds, then follow the coastal highway to Kaikōura, where mountains meet the sea. Overnight: Kaikōura.
Day 8
Christchurch to Lake Tekapo
Stop in Christchurch’s Botanic Gardens, then travel to Lake Tekapo for the turquoise water and the tiny Church of the Good Shepherd. Overnight: Lake Tekapo.

Aoraki Mount Cook to Queenstown
